Keep your direct
mail house honest. When everything is finished, ask to be called in
to see the completed job before it is delivered to the post office.
Insist on going to the post office with the mail. A mailing house
could send out 20,000 pieces instead of 25,000 and you'd have trouble
knowing it, because you don't have historical response rates. Remove
any temptation, and go with them to the bulk mail section of the post
office. It is also a good ploy to contact people you know who live in
the targeted area, to see if the mailer came. The post office can be
sloppy with direct mail because it isn't missed. Problems with the
post office are the exception, not the rule. If you find that some
people aren't getting the mail, and others are, go to some apartment
buildings in the targeted area. Look for your mail dumped on the
floor, or on thrown into bins. You paid for delivery to each box.
Take a picture of this and go see the manger of the local post
office. Post Office management is extremely professional and believes
in customer service. They will fix your problem. |
